Creation of a new intergroup on children’s rights at the European Parliament

An intergroup on children’s rights for the current parliamentary term (2014-2019) was set up on 11 December 2014.

Intergroups are informal structures within the European Parliament aiming to facilitate exchanges between MEPs and with civil society on specific thematic. The purpose of this new intergroup is to mainstream the rights of the child across the work of the Parliament, to promote children’s rights and to ensure that the best interest of the child is taken into account in EU internal and external action.

The creation of this intergroup emerged from the Child Rights Manifesto, which is an advocacy action undertaken by EUROCHILD and other Child Rights Networks.
