Council of Europe launch of the “AUSTERITY BITES: Children’s Voices” ENOC exhibition

The Council of Europe Children’s Rights Division is launching on May 12th, 2015 the “AUSTERITY BITES: Children’s Voices!” exhibition, an ENOC child participation project led by the Scottish Commissioner for Children and Young People, and realised with the financial support of the Council of Europe. The exhibition is made of 32 videos and images (2 minutes each) representing in a creative way how adopted austerity measures in countries across Europe impact on the lives of children and on the realisation of their rights. 36 children and young people, aged between 9 and 19 years, from Belgium (Flanders), Belgium (French community), England, France, Greece, Italy, Netherlands and Scotland, participated in the project.

The exhibition launch took place on 12 May 2015 in the premises of the Council of Europe ‘Agora’ Building in Strasbourg before being moved to the ‘Palais de l’Europe’ where the exhibition will run until end of June. The Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Mr. Thorbjørn Jagland and Mr. Tam Baillie, ENOC Chair and Scotland’s Commissioner for Children and Young People opened the exhibition.
