ENOC 2014 Statement on the impact of austerity on children’s rights released
January 29, 2015
28 October 2014
On the occasion of ENOC 18th Annual Conference and General Assembly meeting held in Edinburgh in late October 2014, ENOC members unanimously adopted a statement to express their deep concern regarding the impact of austerity and poverty on the realisation of children and young people’s rights.
The recent financial and economic crises and state responses to them have had significant detrimental effects on children’s enjoyment of a wide range of their civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC).
The 2014 ENOC position statement on “Children and Austerity” is now available in English, Greek, French, Catalan and Spanish here.
A child friendly version of the statement is available in Greek.
