ENOC 2026 Spring Seminar
8-9 June 2026
The ENOC Spring Seminar 2026 took place in Oslo, Norway, on 8–9 June 2026, hosted by the Ombudsperson for Children in Norway (Barneombudet).
As part of the Seminar, ENOC members gathered for an initial working session (Day 1) dedicated to exploring key challenges and developments related to the rights of LGBTQIA+ children and young people. A learning café provided an interactive space for participants to identify gaps in the protection of the rights of this group of children, but also to exchange knowledge, experiences and promising practices from across Europe. The discussions were informed by preliminary findings from ENOC’s mapping survey, presented by ENOC’s 2026 experts, Dr Ingrid Agud Morell and Dr Angelina Sánchez Martí, Associate Professors at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB).
The Seminar also included a capacity-building session (Day 2) on children's rights, bringing together participants and stakeholders to exchange views and expertise on a range of key topics.
Children’s Right to Protection from Violence was explored through contributions from the Office of the Ombudsperson for Children in Sweden and Anniken Inez Albretsen from KRIPOS (the Norwegian National Criminal Investigation Service).
Children’s Rights in the Digital Environment featured presentations by Dr Sean Wallace, Paediatric Neurologist at Oslo University Hospital, on screen use and its impact on children's development and health; Finn Lützow-Holm Myrstad from the Norwegian Consumer Council (NCC) on children's rights to protection and consumer protection online; and Einar Aasen Tryti, Neuropsychologist at the University of Oslo/Ahus, on children's rights to protection and autism prevalence.
Child-Friendly Justice was addressed through discussions on children's rights in judicial and administrative proceedings, with contributions from Kirsten Sandberg, Professor Emeritus and former Chair of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, as well as representatives from the Ombudsperson for Children in Norway and the Ombudsperson for Children in Iceland.
The two-day event provided an important opportunity for ENOC members and partners to share expertise, strengthen cooperation and contribute to ongoing efforts to advance children's rights across Europe.
