Somalia has ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and become the 195th State party to ratify the Convention. By this action, the government of Somalia formally engaged to improve the lives of its children and young people.

Although the country faces important issues such as conflict, disease, malnutrition and child mortality, Somalia’s ratification has been unanimously recognized as a huge step towards improving respect for children’s rights.

South Soudan and United States remain the latest countries that haven’t ratified the Convention yet.
