ENOC 2022 ENYA FORUM
June 2022
ENOC's annual theme for 2022 was “Climate Justice”.
As part of the ENYA (European Network of Young Advisors) child participation project 2022, children and young people from across Europe worked on Climate Justice to formulate action-oriented recommendations addressing national and supranational law, policy and decision-makers (the recommendations were incorporated in the ENOC statement, adopted during the ENOC Annual Conference, which took place in Reykjavik, Iceland on 19-21 September 2022).
The ENYA 2022 project involved young people from 19 countries/regions (Albania, Andalusia/Spain, Basque country/Spain, Belgium/Flanders, Bulgaria, Catalonia/Spain, Croatia, Estonia, France, Greece, Italy, Jersey/UK, Malta, Northern Ireland/UK, Poland, Slovakia, Scotland/UK, Wales/UK, and Ukraine). Between February and June 2022, ENYA country teams conducted several activities related to the annual theme: they met experts and academics on climate issues, undertook different actions and addressed topics such as children’s participation in environmental decisions, how climate change exacerbates inequalities, consumption and carbon footprint, sustainable mobility, energy sources and their impact on children’s lives.
To provide young people with the opportunity to present the outcomes of their domestic activities, and discuss various issues related to Climate Justice, an ENYA Forum was held on 28th -30th of June 2022 in Bilbao, Basque country, Spain. Read the agenda HERE.
The young people who participated in the ENYA Forum in Bilbao were the ones who, at the final stage of country activities, were elected by their peers to represent them at the event. Two young advisors per country / region accompanied by their country / region Coordinators attended the Forum. The ENOC Secretariat and several Ombudspersons and Commissioners for Children also joined the event.
The ENYA Forum was hosted by the Children and Young People's rights Department of the Ombudsman of the Basque Country.
