ENYA 2025 “Let’s Talk Young, Let’s Talk About Protecting and Promoting Children’s Right to Physical Health”
The ENYA project “Let’s Talk Young, Let’s Talk about Protecting and Promoting Children’s Rights” provides a space for children and young people across Europe to engage directly with the ENOC annual theme and to influence discussions at the European level. In line with Article 12 of the UNCRC, the project is rooted in the values of child participation, empowerment, and the right to be heard.
Coordination:
The ENYA 2025 project was coordinated by Danijela Žagar from the Office of the Ombudsperson for Children in Croatia, with the support of the ENOC Secretariat.
Participants:
Fourteen teams of Young Advisors took part this year, representing Andalusia/Spain, Basque Country/Spain, Catalonia/Spain, Croatia, Cyprus, Iceland, Italy, Malta, Montenegro, Northern Ireland/UK, Poland, Slovakia, Scotland/UK, and Ukraine.
Activities:
Between February and June 2025, ENYA teams organised national-level activities on the theme of children’s right to physical health. These included workshops, consultations with experts and peers, and opportunities to reflect on personal experiences. The process enabled children to develop a set of five concrete, rights-based recommendations in each country.
ENYA Forum 2025:
In July 2025, two Young Advisors from each team gathered at the ENYA Forum in Jezerčica, Croatia, hosted by the Office of the Ombudsman for Children in Croatia. Over two days of intense discussions and collaborative work, the young delegates compared their national recommendations, identified shared priorities, and agreed on a final joint set of proposals.
For many participants, the Forum was more than a meeting, it was a rare opportunity to exchange ideas with peers from different cultural and social backgrounds, to discover shared challenges, and to learn from one another’s experiences. The atmosphere of respect and openness allowed every voice to be valued and included in the decision-making process.
These recommendations will feed directly into the ENOC Policy Position Statement on Children’s Right to Physical Health and will be formally presented to the network of Ombudspersons for Children at the ENOC 29th Annual Conference, which will take place on 17-18 September 2025 in Bucharest, Romania.
Through ENYA, children and young people are not only heard but are also actively shaping the policies that affect their everyday lives and well-being.
